Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/- Latvia is willing to provide support and expertise necessary for Moldova in implementing the provisions of the Association Agreement with EU and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and EU. Latvian Foreign Ministry's Director General for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Margers Krams made the statement at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic on 23 November.
According to the Economics Ministry’s press service, Margers Krams also pointed out that the authorities from Riga were interested in developing the bilateral relations with Moldova at all levels, especially, in the commercial and economic sector. In the context, Krams noted the Latvian side’s interest to initiate and carry out in partnership with the Moldovan partners the investment projects in such sectors as: social, education, infrastructure and consumer protection etc.
Calmic appreciated the Latvian authorities’ interest to boost the bilateral relations, by providing support in implementing the provisions of the Association Agreement with EU and DCFTA, noting that these were the guidelines of the Moldovan government in reforming and modernizing all areas of social and economic life in the country.
In Calmic’s opinion, a good opportunity to boost the bilateral relations is holding a meeting of the Moldovan-Latvian commission on economic cooperation in Chisinau in 2017, in order to discuss more bilateral projects by involving the business environment from both states.
According to statistics data, the trade exchanges between Moldova and Latvia increased by about 58 per cent in the first 8 months of 2016 against the similar period of 2015.
