Moldovan PM tackles business environment, economic development

Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip has participated in an event dedicated to the 5th anniversary of European Business Association in Moldova (EBA), the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

In his speech, the premier congratulated the association’s members, wishing them a fruitful activity and innovative ideas further. “This association was created three years before Moldova signed the Association Agreement with EU. This event is symbolic, as you are those who felt the need to bring the European values in the Moldovan business,” Filip said.

At the same time, Filip thanked the association’s leadership for actively involving in the activity of the Economic Council under the premier, which represented an efficient platform for communication between authorities and business community. In the context, he also approached the reforms set by the government meant to transform the Moldovan business environment into a competitive and attractive one for investments.

“I want to find solutions together to the problems faced by the business. Only by developing the business environment, only by economic development of Moldova, we can talk about decent pensions and wages, we can talk about quality services, including in the social sector,” Filip said.

Attending the event, Head of the EU Delegation to Chisinau Pirkka Tapiola remarked the important role EBA had in carrying out the measures to improve the Moldovan business environment. At the same time, Tapiola congratulated Filip for the steps taken by the government in 2016 and successful implementation of more strategic documents, including the roadmap agreed with the authorities from Brussels, and for approving an agreement with the International Monetary Fund.   

The EBA is a nongovernmental organization, founded under the auspices of the EU Delegation to Chisinau. It is meant to support the adjustment of the national economy and legislation to the EU standards, as well as to promote the European values and best practices of business management in entrepreneurial community from Moldova. The association has currently over 50 member companies with foreign and local capital.
