Economics Ministry presents to donors draft programme on Moldova's economic development for 2017-2019

Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/ – Visions and priorities of economic development of the Republic of Moldova for 2017 – 2019 were discussed today during the meeting Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmic, Minister of Economy, with representatives of the World Bank, United Nations, EU Delegation, United States Agency for International Development, Austrian Development Agency, International Finance Corporation, Technical assistance for the implementation of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) and others.
The Economics Ministry’s media relations department has reported that the Ministry presented at the meeting to development partners its vision of Moldova's development and noted that the proposed measures would impact positively on economic growth at regional level (North, South, Centre and Gagauzia), as well as on poverty reduction.
The document focuses on three action levels: macro, mezzo and micro actions being directed towards the modernization and development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) by assessing their needs, grants and subsidies for technological upgrading, development of physical infrastructure in the region, by providing access to infrastructure connections for new companies and production spaces, entrepreneurial infrastructure development in all regions. In the context, it is implied the innovation promoting and technology transfer, access to finance for SME-s by diversifying the sources and types of external financing and the DCFTA’s implementation, as well as some other free trade agreements.
The total project budget is estimated at €90 million, with activities and financing referring to a period of 3 years and an implementation period of 5 years (2017 – 2021).
According to Deputy Octavian Calmic, the main objective is to have better communication with development partners in order to achieve the established programs, to avoid any duplication of assistance by different donors and establishing of common efforts to implement the actions set.
