Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with the head of the European Parliament Delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, MEP Andi Cristea. The talks were focused on the priorities of the dialogue between Moldova and EU, as well as the opportunities to deepen the cooperation in implementing the Association Agreement, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Filip thanked the European official for the support provided in carrying out the reforms in the key-sectors. “I reiterate gratitude to the support and confidence you show in achieving Moldova’s European integration. You are a real friend and a lawyer of Moldova in the European Parliament,” Filip said.
In the context, the premier informed about the latest developments in Moldova, including approval of an agreement with IMF, which was a certificate of trust for the country and opened the access to foreign funding on behalf of the World Bank and EU.
At the same time, the premier highlighted the committee’s important role to monitor carrying out the provisions of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and to promote the initiatives meant to ensure the implementation at the level of commitments assumed by Moldova. Also, the premier appreciated the activity of the observer mission of the European Parliament for the presidential elections in Moldova, providing expertise needed to ensure the transparent and democratic polls.
In the context, Filip pointed out that Moldova’s European path was irreversible, and the implementation of the Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with EU remained to be main priorities for the government. He noted he wanted an inter-institutional cooperation between government and presidency for the benefit of Moldovans.
For his part, Cristea expressed full support for Moldova’s European integration, noting that the 3rd meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, due in December, would be a good occasion to review Moldova’s achievements in implementing the European agenda, as well as to approach new initiatives for cooperation development between the two sides.
