Moldovan government, civil society to cooperate in Transnistrian settlement process

Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - The government and civil society will cooperate in the Transnistrian settlement process, under an agreement on collaboration between the Bureau for Reintegration at the Moldovan State Chancellery and the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) Viitorul (Future), signed in Chisinau today.
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Gheorghe Balan, at a news conference, has said that the signing of this document represented a positive step in strengthening actions between the authorities and the associative sector in Moldova’s reintegration process. “In this way, we will get a surplus value in working out analyses, drafts and cabinet decisions, especially by appealing to experts of the civil society, among whom there are valuable ones. Subsequently, we hope to sign also other agreements with relevant non-governmental associations on the Transnistrian issue or other economic subjects and not only,” Balan said.
For his part, the IDIS Viitorul executive director, Igor Munteanu, said the civil society appreciated this gesture of openness on behalf of the government. “The next year will be crucial for Moldova in exact determination concerning the country’s reintegration and the process of wider democratization of our society. The state’s Bureau for Reintegration needs institutional consolidation and legitimacy for decisions it prepares in the process of communication and integration of the population from the left bank of Dniester, and we are prepared to provide this support. We hope that the concerned agreement will lay foundations of trust in the fact that together we can do more things for the residents, economy and the country,” Munteanu added.
The cooperation agreement between the State Chancellery’s Bureau for Reintegration and IDIS Viitorul was signed for an indefinite period.
