Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - A one-km-long tricolour flag today was stretched on the Stefan cel Mare blvd of Chisinau, on the occasion of the National Day of Romania, marked annually on 1 December.
The organizer of the event, head of the public organization Onoare, Demnitate și Patrie” (Honour, Dignity and Motherland), Vlad Biletchi, has said that such an action, which marks the 98th anniversary of the Great Union Day of 1918, took place for the first time ever in Moldova history. “The goal of the event is to convey a message of solidarity to the Bucharest authorities, on the occasion of the National Day of Romania, as well as to everybody who feel themselves Romanians,” Biletchi said.
The tricolour flag was sewed during two months. Following the event, the tricolor will be cut into 100 pieces of ten metres each. Subsequently, the flag’s parts will be donated to Moldovan schools and lyceums, so that each education institution hoists this tricolour on 27 April 2017, when the National Flag Day is marked.
