Premier says development partners regain trust in Moldova

Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, at a today’s cabinet meeting, reviewed the main results of his 27-30 November official visit to Brussels, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.  

The PM said that, at meetings with European high-ranking officials, he had received a message of encouragement and congratulation for the steps taken by the government throughout this year. “The most important news is that our development partners have regained trust in Moldova. For its part, the North Atlantic Alliance showed openness to consolidate the cooperation with our country within joint projects and by observing Moldova’s neutrality status,” Pavel Filip stressed.   

At the same time, the prime minister noted that the Brussels authorities encouraged the Moldovan government to press ahead with implementing the reforms underway and would provide the needed support to this end. Thus, Moldova will receive 45 million euros on behalf of the European Union as quick budgetary support and another 100 million euros in macro-financial assistance, of which 40 million euros as grant and 60 million euros – as loan.  

At the same time, the PM referred to a message launched by some Moldovan politicians, which were indignant at the results achieved in Brussels. “These people continue fighting against their own nation. They do their utmost for Moldova and its citizens do not enjoy foreign assistance, get in social crisis; in this way, they hope to come to power. Citizens should see the difference between the positive attitude of the foreign partners towards our country and the cynic and anti-national attitude of certain politicians from the so-called pro-European opposition,” the prime minister said.       

In the context, Pavel Filip described this gesture as cynical, ridiculous and irresponsible. “I want to highlight the fact that EU proves more realism and constructivism than some politicians from Moldova. The European Union wants more good for Moldova than some people from the country,” the prime minister noted.  

At the same time, Prime Minister Pavel Filip refuted also the critical, erroneous theses, made public, on NATO’s Liaison Office from Chisinau “This is pure populism. There is such an office, a more complex one, even in Russia. I am honoured of having been able to sign this document and I had very good discussions with the NATO secretary general,” the PM added.
