Moldovan delegation attends ninth high level meeting of Mobility Partnership EU-Moldova

Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/- The ninth high level meeting of the EU-Moldova Mobility Partnership took place in Brussels at the end of last week, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media relations service has reported.
The Moldovan delegation was led by Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari, and the EU one by Director for general affairs of the European Commission Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs Marta Cygan.
Attending the event were experts of the EU member states, representatives of the European Commission, FRONTEX, European Training Foundation, national institutions and international organizations responsible for migration.
The participants in the meeting discussed the results of the EU-Moldova mobility partnership in 2016, new initiatives and priorities for next year. They reviewed the activities taken within the Mobility Partnership Facility.
The representatives of the European Commission and EU member states appreciated the effort and dynamics of implementing the projects and initiatives carried out in legal migration and strengthening diaspora relations, preventing and combating irregular migration, facilitating circular mobility and integrating migration into development policies of the country.
The Moldovan delegation reiterated openness to share its experience in the activities of the mobility partnership at regional and global level, especially, the states of Eastern Partnership and European Neighborhood Policy that were implementing or were interested to implement similar partnerships in future.
For their part, the European Commission representatives informed about the latest developments on amendments of EU Blue Card Directive, reform of the Common European Asylum System and the future operation of the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS).
At the same time, the Moldovan delegation presented online updated database Scoreboard of the mobility partnership, as well as the cooperation priority list for 2017.
Morari had a bilateral meeting with Deputy Director for Migration and Asylum Olivier Onidi and director of migration and mobility, DG HOME Belinda Pyke. The talks were focused on the latest developments in carrying out reforms in internal affairs and implementing policies in migration sector, Moldova’s proposals for reviewing the EU Neighborhood Policy, including the country’s goals on EUROSUR.
