First evaluation of IMF's programme with Moldova to be made in next February

Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/ - The first evaluation of the programme with Moldova, approved by the IMF Executive Board on 7 November 2016, is scheduled for February 2017, according to a statement by the head of the Fund’s mission, Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar.
In a press release issued today, IMF Resident Representative in Moldova Armine Khachatryan said that “a team of IMF experts, led by Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar, paid a visit to Chisinau on 29 November – 2 December, in order to discuss the working out of the budget for 2017 and subjects dealing with the financial sector.”
In the end of the visit, Vladkova-Hollar said “the mission had productive discussions with Moldova’s authorities. We reached an agreement on measures concerning the budget for 2017, which is to be approved till the end of this year. Efforts for re-establishing the financial sector continue, representing a needed element for creating pre-requisites to re-launch the increase of crediting in the economy.”
The IMF staff is to assess the programme made in promoting policies and fulfilling the commitments assumed by the authorities in the context of the programme supported through the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and the Extended Fund Facility (EFF). The first evaluation of the programme is planned for February 2017, the IMF mission head added.
The IMF Executive Board on 7 November approved a three-year agreement with Moldova, financed by two crediting facilities: the Extended Credit Facility and the Extended Fund Facility, the goal of which is to back the programme of the state’s economic and financial reforms. Thus, Moldova has got access to an overall sum of 129.4 million Special Drawing Rights (178.7 million dollars). The first installment worth 35.9 million dollars was provided immediately after the agreement’s approval.
