Moldovan PM congratulates special brigade on 25th anniversary foundation

Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip participated today at celebration ceremony dedicated to 25th anniversary of special police brigade "Fulger" (Lightning) foundation, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

In his speech, the prime minister said that brigade "Fulger" was and would constantly be an elite unit of the Police of the Republic of Moldova. "Since its inception police brigade "Fulger" was the one that was at the forefront of fighting crime and was the one to assure, through decisive intervention, public order in Moldova. These acts of bravery and heroism must not be ever forgotten. They must serve always examples for the education of today's youth and future generations in the spirit of patriotism and courage," said the premier.

The head of the cabinet expressed gratitude for sacrifice which employees of the institution showed during the Transnistrian conflict, being in the front lines and defending, sometimes with their lives, Moldova’s integrity and independence.

Also, Pavel Filip said that the government supported the strengthening of functional capacities and connecting police brigade "Fulger" with best practices of similar institutions from EU and USA. At the same time, he referred that it would take measures to ensure that remuneration and benefits obtained by employees to cover difficulties and risks of their profession.

The special police brigade "Fulger", created on 5 December 1991, is a specialized division of General Police Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for neutralizing and capturing of extremely dangerous criminals and exercise of special missions meant to restore and ensure public order.
