Over 25 electoral contenders registered for mayor position in seven Moldovan settlements

Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/ - Over 25 electoral contenders have been registered in the race for the mayor position in seven settlements, where new local polls will be held in next May.

According to the press service of the Central Electoral Commission, of all the candidates, two are independent and 24 are appointed by political formations.

At the same time, most candidates for the mayor office were recorded by the district electoral councils Mereni, central Anenii Noi district - seven contenders and Racovat – northern Soroca district - five competitors. Four contenders were registered for the position of mayor of the Tipala village, central Ialoveni district, three candidates for each of the settlements of Hirova, Calarasi district and Pervomaisk, Causeni district and two contenders for village of Ulmu, Ialoveni district and Tvardita town, Taraclia district, each.

The local elections will take place on 14 May 2017.
