Chisinau, 01 July /MOLDPRES/ – The circulation of cars registered in the Transnistrian region is forbidden and owners of cars with foreign plates will have the right to stay in Moldova for no more than six months a year starting today.
According to the legislation, since 01 July, drivers who live on the right bank of the Dniester but drive cars with Transnistrian numbers will no longer have the right to circulate. If non-compliance with the statutory requirements, the drivers of the respective vehicles risk removing the right to drive those cars and placing the transport unit on the territory of the special parking facility or the nearest police subdivision.
By way of derogation, the circulation of such vehicles will be allowed only if they are owned by the economic entities in the administrative-territorial units on the left bank of Dniester and Bender and if the drivers of their vehicles are their employees.
Also, according to the same law provisions, the maximum term on the territory of Moldova of the transport units with foreign registration numbers will be 180 days within 12 consecutive months. The right to stay in the territory of Moldova for more than 180 days will be provided only by vehicles imported by physical persons domiciled abroad and holding a driving license in the country where they are domiciled, provided €180. The ban had to be applied from 01 April, but the document application period was extended until 01 July.
The problem of registration and circulation of cars with Transnistrian numbers could be solved. The head of state, Igor Dodon, stated at a meeting with journalists that a solution agreed by the leadership of the Parliament and the Executive has already been found, even a pattern of placards that will not contain the symbol of the unrecognized region.
