New school year starts for about 330,000 pupils in Moldova

Chisinau, 1 September /MOLDPRES/- New school year began today for about 330,000 pupils in the country.

Events on the first bell sound were organized in over 1,200 primary schools, gymnasiums and high schools across the country. At the same time, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research recommended that event’s duration should not exceed 45 minutes, and the first hours should be dedicated to the celebration of a century since the poem “Our Language” by Alexei Mateevici has appeared.

In 2017-2018 school year, about 36,000 children went in the first class. Traditionally, the children received a gift “Abecedar”.

Starting today, the average monthly salary of teachers in pre-university education will increase by 11.3 per cent. The change was applied in accordance with the wage review procedure for teachers, made annually on 1 September.
