Three documentaries, photo albums AGERPRES get to Bookfest Chisinau

Chisinau, 01 September /MOLDPRES/ – Three documentaries, archive images, as well as photo albums: Romania: Evolution and Photo Archive are presented by the National Press Agency of AGERPRES at the International Book Fair – Bookfest Chisinau, on 30 August – 03 September at the International Exhibition Centre  MOLDEXPO.

On 31 August, it was shown film: Romania, the road from passions to light to the public in Chisinau. The documentary has three parts: Passions, Road and Light, representing a journey in pictures in the villages of Romania, where the folk tradition and garments are still preserved. A weaver from Apuseni, the master of the famous crosses in Sapanta, a man named The Living Human Treasure and the most awarded ceramist from Maramures tell their stories in the documentary.

On 01 September, the audience had the opportunity to watch the documentary: Discover Romania with Peter Hurley. Prior to the screening, the film was presented by Deputy Director of AGERPRES Agency, Alexandru Tole. He mentioned that the documentary told the story of Irishman Paul Hurley, who traveled on foot from the Merry Cemetery in Sapanta to the Romanian Peasant Museum, in love with Romania, the traditions and the hospitality of the Romanians. For 26 days, Peter Hurley travelled 30 kilometers a day.

According to the cited source, the third AGERPRES documentary, The Land of the Waters, which will run tomorrow, presents the Danube Delta through the life stories of local people, whether Lippovan, Ukrainian or Greek, for whom this land is the only place called "home".

At the same time, Alexandru Tole added, during the exhibition AGERPRES has presented the photo archive, containing more than ten million images made since 1927. Hundreds of thousands of films and about 5,000 photographic plates are included in the archive. "In 2016 we began to make use of our photographic archive. Since then, we have digitized about one million photographs," said Deputy Director AGERPRES.

The Bookfest Chisinau is in its second issue, and in 2017 readers will be able to find over 50,000 books from Romanian publishing houses, as well as several tens of thousands of Moldovan publishers. The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Education and Research of Moldova, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi Institute for Romanians from everywhere (both from Bucharest), the National Library of Moldova (BNM), the Union of Publishers from Moldova and the Publishers Association from Romania. The partner of the event is also the Agency for the Press AGERPRES of Romania.
