Moldovan PM dialogues with local authorities in Gagauzia

Chisinau, 05 September /MOLDPRES/ – On a working visit to Comrat, Prime Minister Pavel Filip met with representatives of Gagauzian Executive Committee, local councils, deconcentrated services and mayors of the region today. The Prime Minister referred on the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue between the local and central authorities in order to identify concrete measures to solve the problems faced by the inhabitants of ATU Gagauz-Yeri, the Government's communication and protocol department has reported.  

In the discussion, Pavel Filip stressed that the main objective of the governmental program was to ensure the quality of citizens' life, referring to the reforms promoted by the Executive in that respect. In particular, the prime minister spoke about the reform of the central public administration, started by optimizing the number of ministries and state agencies, after which the reform of the local public administration and the administrative-territorial administration being needed for implementation.

"The objective we are pursuing is fortification of public institutions, so that the best, most professional ones to work for the state. This reform is the foundation on which the Republic of Moldova must be built and developed," said the Premier.

Referring to the Government's cooperation with Gagauzian authorities, the Prime Minister noted the dynamic dialogue between the parties, emphasizing the achievements obtained in the achievement of the objectives set at the special meeting of the Executive, held in Comrat on 04 March 2016.

At her turn, Gagauz-Yeri Bashkan, Irina Vlah, thanked for the support provided by the Executive in the modernization of the region, specifying that by now about 60 per cent of the objectives included in the Action Plan on Socio-Economic Development of ATU Gagauz-Yeri for the period 2016-2019 were realized.

In the dialogue, the local authorities also addressed a series of pressing problems facing the region's inhabitants. Among the most important topics were the economic development of the Gagauzia, social services, as well as the attraction of investments and the promotion of infrastructure projects.
