Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/- Transport of bilateral goods, as well as in transit between Moldova and Belarus will be carried out without authorizations, which will facilitate transportation and exchange of goods between states. The government approved today the initiation of negotiations on the protocol on amending the agreement between the governments of the two countries signed on 9 April 1994, which provides for the liberalization of transport.
Moldovan transport operators face the shortage of Belarusian permits for the transport of goods every year. As a result, they face great difficulties in terms of meeting the freight transport commitments under the concluded contracts.
“The liberalization of bilateral and transit transport will make it possible to increase the competitiveness of road transport operators at regional level”, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure said. At the same time, transport operations will be simplified.
The initiative to sign the protocol on liberalization of transport belongs to the Moldovan side and was launched in 2015, when the first discussions on the matter were held, which were updated during a meeting of the government commission held in Minsk on 5-6 June 2017.
