Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/- The cabinet approved today a decision on initiation of negotiations on the cooperation agreement between the Moldovan and Romanian governments in the field of preventing and combating corruption.
So far, cooperation in preventing and combating corruption with Romanian partners has been achieved on the basis of the agreement between the governments of Romania, Moldova and Ukraine on collaboration in fight against crime, signed in Kiev in July 1999. This document is focused on a wider range of cooperation relations and does not fully cover current realities.
The conclusion of the agreement will make it possible to exchange experts, data and operative information, as well as to increase the number of joint investigation teams. The signing of this document will be an important step in strengthening the cooperation relations in security at the EU border, and development of EU initiatives, such as the Eastern Partnership and Neighborhood Policy, the National Anticorruption Centre said.
According to the agreement, through the specialized authorities (National Anticorruption Centre of Moldova and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania), “the sides will take all measures and will make every effort to support the joint initiative to combat corruption and related to corruption”.
