Freight transport with Belarus to be liberalized

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/- Transport of bilateral goods, as well as in transit between Moldova and Belarus will be carried out without authorizations. In this respect, the government approved today the initiation of negotiations on draft protocol on amending the agreement between the governments of the two countries on international road traffic and its additional protocol of 9 April 1994.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the liberalization of bilateral and transit transport will facilitate exchange of goods between states, reduce operational costs, thus increasing competitiveness of road transport operators at regional level. It is also supposed to expand the market for domestic carriers.
The protocol will enter into force upon receipt by the diplomatic channels of the latest notification on the parties’ performance of the internal legal procedures related to the entry into force of this protocol.
