Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip was concerned about the repeated refusal of the president to ensure the participation of the National Army in international military exercises aimed at enhancing professionalism and training of Moldovan soldiers, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
“Recently the participation in training in Ukraine was denied. Previously, the participation in five training courses abroad has been refused too. Non-participation in the 6 drills would amount over 5 million lei”, Filip said.
At the same time, the premier pointed out that the budget for military drills and training is provided by development partners, amounting to 80 per cent, and the government by law is obliged to ensure increase of capabilities of the National Army.
Thus, following a proposal by the premier, the government decision on participation of a military contingent of the National Army in “Rapid Trident” training course in Ukraine on 7-23 September was additionally set on the agenda and approved.
Under the document, 57 Moldovan soldiers will be trained at Yavoriv Military Training Centre in Ukraine. The purpose of the training course is to develop the interoperability level, strengthen defense capabilities and promote the image of the National Army on the international stage for further participation in peacekeeping missions. All expenses for deployment of military contingent will be covered by the host country.
