Moldovan premier meets Romanian university rector

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met rector of Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj, Academician Ioan-Aurel Pop, who is on a visit to Chisinau to attend the 6th issue of the World Congress of Eminescologists. Attending the event was Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The participants exchanged opinions about functioning of the higher education and research systems in Moldova and Romania, and considered ways of improving the education systems in both states. In particular, they discussed boosting academic mobility and organizing joint programs for training competent specialists according to the labor market requirements, as well as participation in community research projects.
At the same time, the sides expressed interest in exchanging experience and openness to share ideas and examples of good practice to find viable solutions to development of university education in the two countries.
In the context, the premier said that the education system remains one of the government’s most important priorities. He noted that to get achievements in any branch, the state needs well-trained specialists with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca is one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in Romania, having a significant place in the top of European universities.
