Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Adrian Candu today criticized President Igor Dodon’s decision to ban the participation of Moldovan soldiers in international exercises saying he misunderstood the notion of supreme commander of the Armed Forces.
The speaker noted that the head of state is abusing some tools that are provided by law, and the issues will be discussed at the next meeting of the Supreme Security Council.
“I will insist on approaching the issues related to the consequences of non-participation of servicemen in exercises at the next meeting of CSS. We will assess compliance with the law, especially that there is a plan of exercises with the participation of Moldovan soldiers approved in advance”, he said.
He noted that the National Army’s absence from the military drills affects its level of training.
Today, Dodon announced he had signed an order banning the participation of Moldovan soldiers in exercises outside the country without the consent of the head of state. Also, he asked Prime Minister Pavel Filip to resign the leadership of the Deefense Ministry. He noted he had initiated a job investigation to identify people who had violated the president’s order, and then they will be penalized and downgraded.
The government approved a decision on participation of a contingent of Moldovan servicemen in Rapid Trident training course in Ukraine. Soon, the head of state suspended the government’s decision, but the soldiers were subjected to the decision and traveled to the drills in the neighboring state.
