Moldovan prime minister participates in works of international conference Europe-Asia Transport Corridors

Chisinau, 08 September /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip participated with the Ukrainian Prime Minister, Volodimir Groisman, at the second issue of the International Transport Conference "Europe-Asia Transport Corridors" today, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
In his speech, Pavel Filip pointed out that the event was a good platform to discuss challenges and opportunities of infrastructure development, transport and logistics, integration of transport infrastructure in Europe and Asia, but also identify exact measures with a view to further developing cooperation on that segment.
"By signing the Association Agreement with the EU, Moldova has undertaken its obligations and systematically follows this course in order to extend the international cooperation in the transport sector, which will lead to the development of the modern transport and logistics infrastructure in the region", said Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
In this context, the Head of the Chisinau Executive mentioned that Moldova's sectoral policy on transport and logistics was based on three pillars: harmonization of national legislation with EU regulations, integration into international transport corridors, liberalization of transport markets and reduction of transaction costs.
In this respect, Moldova and Ukraine established on bilateral agenda for 2017 the signing of the bilateral agreements on the liberalization of road and air transport between two states. According to Pavel Filip, a particular attention should be paid to the quality of the roads linking Chisinau and Odessa, as well as the rehabilitation of the Basarabeasca-Berezino railroad segment, which must find its place in the transport strategies of Moldova and Ukraine.
Referring to the joint projects of the future, Prime Minister Pavel Filip noted the need to restore the Platonovo – Liubashevka road, establishment of a joint customs control point Palanka – Mayaki – Udobnoe, but also the intensification of the cooperation in order to include Edinet – Vinnitsa direction in the trans-European TEN-T network transport.
The event gathered senior officials, heads of transport departments from participating countries, ambassadors, representatives of international organizations and business communities.
