Moldova, Ukraine to deepen bilateral collaboration in transport field

Chisinau, 08 September /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, and Prime Minister of Ukraine, Volodimir Groisman, had a bilateral meeting in the context of the International Transport Conference "Europe-Asia Integrated Corridors" today, followed by statements for press of both officials, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Pavel Filip pointed out the constructive and open character of the dialogue between Moldova and Ukraine during the press briefing, which facilitates the identification of the optimal solutions to the common problems and the drawing of the new collaboration perspectives.
The Chief of Chisinau Executive reiterated the importance of participation in the International Transport Conference, specifying that following the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, Moldova has undertaken the obligation to extend the international cooperation in the transport sector, which would contribute to the development of a modern infrastructure in that sector. As well, the Prime Minister expressed his conviction that the implementation of the Declaration of the Prime Ministers on the results of the Conference would be an important step in deepening the bilateral cooperation in the field of transport and economic cooperation, as a whole.
"The integration in the Europe-Asia transport corridors is extremely important for Moldova as it will allow the elimination of administrative barriers, ensure free transit through Moldova for foreign operators and contribute to the increase of freight transport and flow of passengers between our countries" said Pavel Filip. In the same sense, the Chief of Chisinau Executive reiterated the intention of Moldova and Ukraine to establish more common border control points as to ensure state security, but also facilitate the business environment.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip also referred to the new education law, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada (Supreme Rada) on 05 September 2017, emphasizing the necessity of its implementation so that the new provisions not to constrain the interests of Moldovans and Romanians living in Ukraine. In this context, Pavel Filip emphasized that the right of these citizens to receive education in their mother tongue was provided by more documents on the rights of national minorities ratified by Ukraine.
At his turn, Ukrainian Prime Minister, Volodimir Groisman, mentioned that the present event was a good basis for developing the transport strategies of Moldova and Ukraine, drawing common objectives and priorities for the benefit of the citizens of both states. Similarly, Volodimir Groisman expressed his hope that the organization of such platforms would become a traditional one.
Also, Prime Ministers, Pavel Filip and Volodimir Groisman, confirmed the readiness to continue to discuss the priority issues on the Common Agenda in the context of the implementation of the Roadmap for the development of bilateral cooperation for 2017, which was signed earlier in 2017.
