Ukraine delegates new representative to Transnistrian settlement negotiations in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 September /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime, Minister Gheorghe Balan, received the new special representative of Ukraine being on a visit in the framework of Transnistrian settlement talks, Victor Krijanovski, today, the office for reintegration policies’ press service has reported.
The main subject of the talks was the Transnistrian issue. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the major issues on the agenda of the negotiations and the approaches of Chisinau, including: the need to eliminate artificial obstacles to free movement between the two banks of the Dniester, to ensure the necessary settlement conditions for the proper functioning of the Moldovan schools with teaching in the Latin script in the region transdniestrian, unblocking the access of farmers from Dubasari district to agricultural lands, opening the bridge over the Dniester river between the localities of Gura Bacului and Baciuc.
Gheorghe Balan also stressed the need to continue negotiations within all existing platforms and to involve more actively all participants in the dialogue, noting that Moldova relies on Ukraine's support in this process.
At his turn, the Ukrainian diplomat thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for useful information and stressed that Ukraine unequivocally has supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova. Victor Krijanovski assured that during his mandate he would use his experience to help progressively advance the negotiation process and promote constructive, transparent and open dialogue.
Victor Krijanovski also served as Ukraine's special representative in the process of negotiations for Transnistrian settlement in 2008 – 2010.
