Democrats leader proposes to amend Constitution of Moldova

Chisinau, 12 September /MOLDPRES/- The leader of the Democratic Party, Vlad Plahotniuc, announced today the party’s decision to initiate amending the Constitution by setting a reference that clearly says that Moldova’s strategic orientation is European integration

Plahotniuc said that the amendment to the Constitution will legally define the direction Moldova is following, a direction that cannot be other than European integration.

“We do this because we want everyone to understand clearly that the direction we are going is European integration, and all state institutions should act only in this direction, regardless of the political changes in the future or the interests of some or others”, he said.

Plahotniuc cited the 2014 decision by the Constitutional Court, by which the magistrates found that the orientation towards the European democratic value space is a defining element of constitutional identity of Moldova.
