Chisinau, 12 September /MOLDPRES/ – The head of state, Igor Dodon, announced that he would reject the candidacy of Eugen Sturza, who was appointed by the government for the post of defence minister.
The president wrote on a social network, that "he can not accept such a candidacy because he is not only incompetent in the military field, but also has a dubious experience in the Filat and Leanca cabinets. The National Army (ANM) expects to be led by a well-trained and professional person who knows the specifics of military management, and I reserve the right to come soon with such an application. I can not accept Mr. Sturza either now or in the second move, if the Government insists repeatedly on this absolutely inappropriate candidacy," said Dodon.
The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) announced that Eugen Sturza was nominated by the formation for the position of Defence Minister today. The Democrats’ leader, Vlad Plahotniuc, specified that Sturza was the only candidacy of the party and, if rejected by Moldovan President, Igor Dodon, PDM would propose him repeatedly.
Interviewed by the agency, Tudor Deliu, member of the Parliamentary Commission for Legal Affairs, Appointments and Immunities, said, that "according to a decision of the Constitutional Court, the head of state may only reject the nomination submitted by the government, but will be obliged to accept it if it is proposed, repeatedly".
