Yellow code of fire, drought extended for a week

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/- The State Hydrometeorological Service extended today the yellow code of fire and drought by 19 September. In this regard, several institutions have taken protection measures and issued warnings to the people and economic agents.
According to meteorologists, the exceptional fire class V and fire threat of forest strips and agricultural crops will last until 19 September on a large part of the country (especially southern and central regions). At the same time, the hydrological drought is maintained due to lack of precipitation. In this context, the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment asked the people and especially the economic agents to rationally consume the water resources.
The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service also warned the people about compliance with fire regulations. Firefighters have urged citizens not to light dry vegetation and household waste, to avoid ignition of rust and stubble. At the same time, the rescuers requested that in the event of a fire, to call the 901 Service, because of low humidity conditions, fire can spread rapidly.
Subdivisions of the Moldsilva Agency have been mobilized to prevent and combat fires in the national forest area. Victoria Covali, a specialist in the regeneration, guard, forest protection and hunting service, reiterated that control over compliance with the fire regulations is enhanced at enterprises of the institution.
