Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/- The National Program on Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities for 2017-2022 and the action plan on its implementation will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 15 September.
The document aims to develop accessible and inclusive services that meet the real needs of people with different types of disability.
In this regard, the authorities aim to improve access to social protection measures for people with special needs, facilitate accessibility of infrastructure, transport, information and communication for people with special needs. Other goals set in the program are to increase access of people with disabilities to health services, promote inclusive child education and increase employment rate of people with special needs.
Among the actions due to be implemented are: providing disabled people, including children, with wheelchairs and other technical assistance, including syringes, stoma and other materials for patients in compensated package for home medical care, extending the list of compensated medicines for diseases leading to disability, equipping education institutions to facilitate the educational process, as well as performance by each public institution of the evaluation of the accessibility of the infrastructure.
The estimated cost of implementing the program for six-year period is about 9 million lei. According to statistics, about 181,000 disabled people are registered in Moldova.
