Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - Snowfall and sleet might return on 15 January. On 13-14 January, when the old-style New Year is celebrated, calm and frosty weather is expected in Moldova, according to the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS).
Variable could is forecast for all over Moldova for 13-14 January, with air temperatures fluctuating between -2 and +3 Celsius degrees during the day and between -6 and -13 degrees at night. The lowest air temperatures will be recorded in northern Moldova; starting from 15 January, snowfall and sleet is expected, yet not such intense as on the last days, when a Yellow Code of complicated weather conditions was issued.
"The layer of snow fallen on the last days is quite beneficial for agriculture, as it protects crops from frost and will provide the soil with needed humidity,’’ specialists of the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry said.
At the same time, the Yellow Code of unstable ice remains valid for 10-18 January. According to hydrologists, given the snow fallen, the ice will be unstable and masked by snow on small rivers and water basins from Moldova, and skating on it will pose increased danger. SHS warns fishermen to be cautious and parents should supervise their children.
