Moldovan Interior Ministry's civil servants to have new powers

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - Civil servants from the Interior Ministry (MAI) will have new powers. The parliament passed a draft law to this effect today.

Under the draft, the MAI civil servants with special status will have right to consider contravention causes and impose sanctions.

In particular, the interior minister will have right to create a classified list of duties and powers of considering contravention causes and imposing sanctions proceeding from the MAI’s competences of examining contraventions.

The initiative belongs to a MP of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Vasile Bolea, who says that, in this way, the norms of the contravention code will be adjusted to the provisions of the regulation on the organization and work of the General Police Inspectorate.
