Moldova's foreign affairs ministry makes specification on case of Moldovan citizens from regions with COVID-19 virus

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), in the context of the suspecting of cases of infections with the Covid-19 virus (coronavirus) in Italy and Japan, recommends that Moldova’s citizens who are abroad strictly observe the authorities’ recommendations on the current epidemiological situation, the MAEIE press service has reported.
At present, Moldova’s Embassy in Rome, along with the General Consulate from Milan and Consulate of Padua, are in permanent touch with the Italian authorities with powers in the management of the situation as to coronavirus. Presently, the diplomatic missions from Italy informed about the positive result of a test collected two days ago from a lady citizen of Moldova, who had earlier contacted with a person infected with the COVID-19 virus. The second person, who came in touch with the Italian citizen infected was taken samples for testing, and the results of the analyses are to come on the next days. The health condition of the two persons is good and they do not need hospitalization; they are placed in quarantine at their homes and the National Health Service from Italy provides them the necessary assistance.
The Italian authorities will constantly inform Moldova’s diplomatic missions about the evolution of those two cases.

Also, according to the latest information communicated to Moldova’s Embassy in Tokyo, the three Moldovan citizens, of whom two ones have Romanian citizenship, members of the crew of the cruise ship Diamond Princess, were disembarked and transferred to a special unit nearby Tokyo, in the Wako settlement, Saitama prefecture. The results of the last medical tests show the absence of coronavirus. As a preventive measure, they will be in quarantine on the next 14 days, in a campus where each person will have separate chamber with balcony and private sanitary unit.
The diplomatic mission from Japan is in permanent touch with the three citizens placed in quarantine and informs that, in emergency cases, the Moldovans from Japan can contact the diplomatic mission at the phone number +810 80 8850 7372.
The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry reiterates the importance of observing the measures of protection and prevention of the spread of the virus, issued by the World Health Organization.
At the same time, the ministry reiterates its earlier messages, which recommend the serious informing from official sources and encourages the approaching of the situation in a united and cooperating way, so that the eventual fake news do not trigger panic among residents.
