Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/- Joint appeal by President, Speaker and Prime Minister
Dear citizens of the Republic of Moldova,
On 2 March 1992, a new page in the contemporary history of the Republic of Moldova was opened. Our country has become a full member state of the United Nations. The historical, legal right to the continuous statehood of the Moldovan people, to the sovereignty and independence of the Moldovan state, dating back more than 660 years, has been restored.
At the same time, the 1992 tragic events related to the Transnistrian conflict were the darkest and saddest page in the modern history of our country. The consequences of those armed confrontations are still being felt in the Moldovan society, having a visible impact on the political and socio-economic life of the whole country. On 2 March, Remembrance Day, we mention all those killed in the Dniester armed conflict.
We believe that all Moldovan citizens, politicians, academics and civil society must make necessary efforts to overcome the consequences of the Transnistrian conflict to leave our descendants a peaceful, stable and prosperous country.
Reaffirming the Moldovan people's desire to live in peace and prosperity, we urge you to jointly build and develop further the Republic of Moldova.
We, our children and grandchildren deserve a better life today, we deserve a better life tomorrow.
"We are convinced - Moldova has a future!"
