Martisor International Music Festival inaugurated in Moldova

Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - The 54th issue of the Martisor International Music Festival, due to be held in Chisinau and in the territory till 10 March, was inaugurated with a musical and choreographic show titled, Pastel, at the Nicolae Sulac National Palace on 1 March.
The show was occasioned by the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Teleradio-Moldova State Company and 50 years of work of composer, conductor, academician, laureate of the National Prize, holder of the Order of the Republic and the order Cultural Merit of Romania Gheorghe Mustea.
Attending the event were President Igor Dodon, Education, Culture and Research Minister Corneliu Popovici, Deputy Parliament Speaker Monica Babuc, cabinet members, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Chisinau, MPs, culture people, as well as a numerous audience.
In his greeting message, President Igor Dodon said that Martisor was the holiday representing Moldova. “This is a holiday which we remember, love and are looking forward to,” the head of state stressed. The official offered sincere congratulations to composer Eugen Doga on his birthday and composer Gheorghe Mustea on his 50 years of activity.
Composer Eugen Doga said that he was happy that he had been born on 1 March. “I like spring, as it is the season of revival. I am glad of these children who participate in the show and I wish them to be happy, to build a way in their lives,” Eugen Doga noted.
In the context, composer Gheorghe Mustea stressed that the Martisor holiday and everything which is done for culture, art, music and poetry was for the preservation of the roots of our nation. “The song is our soul and the doina is our symphony. The man disappears without music, without art, without beauty,” Mustea added.
The Lautarii (The Fiddlers) National Folk Music Orchestra, led by Nicolae Botgros, the National Symphony Orchestra of Teleradio Moldova, chief conductor Gheorghe Mustea, the National Chamber Orchestra, the Choir Vocile Primaverii (the Spring Voices), the bands DoReDos, Brio Sonores, the Codreanca sports dance club, as well as Eugen Doga, Mihail Munteanu, Nicolae Glib, Ana Cernicova, etc. performed at the inaugural show. About 1,000 professional artists and amateurs were on stage in all.
The 2020 Martisor International Music Festival comprises 53 music shows, held both in Chisinau and in various Moldovan districts: Anenii Noi, Briceni, Cahul, Comrat, Criuleni, Edinet, Hancesti, Ialoveni, Orhei, Soroca, Ungheni, Balti city, including two concerts in Tiraspol.
Artists and bands from nine countries participate in Martisor 2020: Trio Montagnana (Belgium), David Filipe (violin (Portugal), Celtic Legends ensemble of Irish dances (Ireland), Martin Palmeri (Argentina), Marek Stefanski (Poland), Sedov Jazz Trio, Stas Mihailov (Russia), Montenegrin Guitar Duo (Montenegro), Fuego, Inna, Victor Socaciu and conductor Gheorghe Costin (Romania) etc.
The festival’s budget amounts to about 2.7 million lei this year. The first issue of the Martisor International Music Festival took place in 1966.
