Moldovan president meets King of Belgians

Chisinau, 4 March /MOLDPRES/- Following the working visit to Brussels, President Igor Dodon had a meeting with His Majesty Philippe, King of the Belgians on Tuesday, the presidential press service has reported.

Dodon welcomed the existence of an active dialogue between the countries, and opted for further strengthening relations in the political, commercial and economic sectors. He noted the importance of relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Benelux countries, and proposed to consider the possibility of organizing a visit to Chisinau of foreign ministers of the three states.

Also, the president welcomed the continuous development of bilateral relations at parliamentary level and highlighted the productive meeting in Brussels on 5 September last year with President of the Belgian Senate Sabine Laruelle.

At the same time, Dodon thanked the federal government for supporting Moldova in implementing reforms in line with European standards. Also, he pointed out we rely on the assistance of the Belgian authorities in the fight against corruption.

In another context, the sides found the insufficient implementation of the existing economic potential, given that the trade between our countries has decreased, and the imports from Belgium significantly exceed the exports. Dodon welcomed the initiative to organize mutual business forums and urged investors in Belgium to participate in the ambitious infrastructure projects launched in Moldova.
