Chisinau, 4 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Republican Council of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), at a today’s meeting, ruled to initiate negotiations for the creation of a coalition with the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM).
A press release issued by the formation reads that PSRM today summoned the Republican Council, in order to discuss the political strategy and the actions for the next period. In this context, the Socialists’ Political Council analyzed the party’s work in parliament and government, the way this activity can be optimized, as well as the way the political support provided to the governmental team can be strengthened.
“The participants in the meeting ascertained the fact that the current government had fulfilled its short-term goals set at its swearing in office, managed to avoid the political and social crisis which started in last November. Also, the governmental team fulfilled the commitments agreed upon with the international partners; a proof to this effect is also the successful completion of the programme with IMF. And the most important thing is that social programmes were initiated or re-launched, which have brought and this year will bring direct benefits to the citizens. All these things have been successful in the difficult context in which the cabinet worked, without a political majority in parliament, but with a technical support based on conditionalities,” the communiqué also reads.
Also, the PSRM leadership informed that it regretted the fact that the former political partners of the ACUM Bloc had not answered to calls to return to dialogue and specified that today it received the mandate to hold negotiations and conclude political partnerships, in order to ensure a stable governance, able to fulfill its activity programme with maximal efficiency till 2023.
“The same political agreement signed by PSRM with the ACUM Bloc – a document accepted by the society and the international partners – will stay at the basis of the possible future political alliances. If it is impossible to sign a political agreement on the creation of a parliamentary majority, the parties which do not accept the dialogue or bloc the government’s work should assume responsibility for the starting of snap parliamentary elections,” the press release also reads.
Till the hour of the spreading of this story, PDM has not come up with a reaction to this subject.
