Chisinau, 4 March /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has announced Yellow Code of hydrological drought till 14 March.
According to hydrologists, given the high air temperatures and lack of essential precipitation, hydrological drought is reported in the basin of the Prut river, downstream the Costesti-Stanca reservoir, as well as in the small rivers from central and southern Moldova. In the context, the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry asked the residents and especially economic agents to rationally consume the water resources.
The hydrological drought is defined depending on the flow and volume of water in rivers for a period of time. If the water flow has quotas of 50 per cent and lower against the multiannual norm during 5-7 days, Yellow Code of hydrological drought is issued. If hydrological drought is recorded on 80 per cent of the country’s area, hydrological drought is announced all over the country, similarly for the hydrographic basins.
On the days to come, the air temperature will oscillate between +12 and +17 Celsius degrees all over Moldova during the day and between +4 and +9 degrees at night. Short rains are possible in some regions.
