Moldovan government approves regulation on payments for disadvantaged children, young people

Chisinau, 4 March /MOLDPRES/ - The government members, at a today’s meeting, approved a regulation on the way the allowances are established and paid for some categories of children and young people.
The draft was worked out based on the provisions of the Law from 2016 on social payments for children, which sees that “the children who have temporarily remained without parental care, as well as the young people who held the status of child remained without parental care till the age of 18, who continue their studies at the vocational and higher education institutions, benefit from allowances for continuing their education.”
Thus, this draft cabinet decision for the approval of the regulation on the way the allowances are established and paid for some categories of children and young people was elaborated, “in order to optimize the mechanism of establishing and payment of benefits provided to the children who temporarily remained without parental care and those who remained without parental care who continue their studies at the 3-7 education levels, beginning with the secondary vocational education, including in the sectors of military service, security and public order, as well as integrated and residency higher education in the medical and pharmaceutical higher education.”
About 33.76 million lei will be necessary to implement this decision. For the 2020 year, 32.3 million lei was provided for in the state budget for paying the allowances established in line with the provisions of the Government Decision from 28 July 2004 on the approval of the provisional norms of money spending for the orphan pupils (students) or those under guardianship from the vocational schools, specialized secondary schools and higher university education institutions, boarding schools and children’s homes. About 1.46 million lei will be additionally necessary for the 2021 year.
