Moldova's State Chancellery to sign memorandum for project backed by Switzerland

Chisinau, 4 March /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet today approved the initiation of negotiations and signing of a memorandum of understanding between Moldova’s State Chancellery and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation on the first phase of the project titled, I get involved – project on civic involvement in local governance.
The memorandum of understanding represents an international treaty, which provides for proper conditions for the successful implementation of the aforementioned project.
The project is set to provide support to local public authorities for the management of the providing of services in a participatory way, efficiently, inclusively and sustainably, citizens’ involvement in the decision-making process locally and in monitoring the providing of services in the settlements selected, improvement of public policies, as well as of the juridical and financial environment, in order to provide qualitative services. To this end, Switzerland will provide Moldova with 5.9 million Swiss francs (5.5 million euros or 106.8 million lei).
The first stage of the project is to be carried out till 2023. The financing will be provided in form of technical assistance and grants.
