Moldovan consulates in Milan, Padua to suspend activity

Chisinau, 5 March /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration announced that, given the increasing number of contaminations with the Covid-19 virus in Italy, as well as the recommendations of the central authorities to avoid crowding, suspends from 5 March until 15 March the consular services at the Consulate General in Milan and Padua, which period may be extended upon the recommendations of the Italian authorities.
According to a press release by MAEIE, limiting the activity and the flow of people is required as an absolutely necessary measure, given that the consular sections are visited daily by citizens from all regions of Italy, more or less affected by the epidemiological situation.
At the same time, the Consulates continue to operate under extraordinary regime and will react only to cases of urgency or exceptional by appointment in advance by phone, for the situations: making the travel title for urgent departure in the Republic of Moldova (justified); accidents, deaths, natural disasters; theft / loss of documents, evidenced by statements to the police.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration recommends to Moldovan citizens who are in Italy to remain calm, to be thoroughly informed by official sources about the epidemiological developments and measures by the Italian authorities and their compliance.
The number of deaths in Italy has reached 107 and over three thousand confirmed cases of coronavirus infection, being the third most affected country after China and South Korea. The government in Rome announced it will close all schools and universities for two weeks.
No case of contamination with the new coronavirus has been announced in Moldova.
