Moldovan PM meets local public authorities from southern district

Chisinau, 5 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a working meeting with representatives of the southern Cimislia district’s leadership, district councilors, mayors, heads of decentralized services and residents, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM informed the audience about the evolution of the national economy’s indexes. The 2019 year ended with a deficit of 2.4 percentage points. The public debt to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) decreased by 1.9 percentage points to 25.1 percentage points and is one of the lowest in the region. The programme with IMF was finished successfully, which provides a positive foundation for the singing of a new agreement. The budget revenues on the period January-February 2020 are by 1.2 billion lei higher against the same period of 2019. In particular, the revenues collected by the Customs Services grew by 25 per cent against the last year. This is due to the optimization of the institution’s work.
The prime minister thanked economic agents for the contribution to the state budget. Chicu also tackled the subject on investments in the roads’ construction in for 2020 and the effects expected. The goal of districts’ industrialization and bringing stable and well-paid jobs close to people’s homes cannot be achieved without a qualitative roads’ infrastructure and quick transport services and at reasonable prices. After the change of the approach in the distribution of funds for roads’ construction, the Cimislia district receives 15 million lei, against 5 million lei in 2019. Each settlement will receive street illumination objects for illuminating by one kilometer of road.
Ion Chicu stressed that Moldova must cease the exodus, especially of young people. For this, jobs should be created and people’s living standards should be improved in all Moldova’s districts. Big investments will be made in the construction of networks of aqueducts and sewerage, as well as in streets’ illumination. The prime minister also referred to the balanced foreign policy and the need to edify mutually advantageous partnerships in the East and in the West, in order to enhance the opportunities of economic development.
The PM answered questions put by the audience. People tackled the problem of companies of non-banking financing; the issue of supply with gas and water of the Cimislia-based industrial park; problem of unauthorized waste deposits, as well as collection and processing of solid waste; issue of carriage of high-tonnage goods which transit the Cimislia town; big queues for insured health services; subject on the inequality of the size of pension, being noted the pensions of judges and prosecutors, problem of medical staff in hospitals, etc.
