Chisinau, 5 March /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs of the factions of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) and Democratic Party (PDM) today afternoon convened at the first round of negotiations on the creation of a majority coalition in parliament. Representatives of the two formations noted that the discussions would continue in the next week-end too.
The lawmakers from both factions said that the agreement earlier signed by PSRM with the ACUM Bloc had stayed at the basis of the discussions and the sides did not discuss the sharing of ministries, but only the taking over by PDM of some directions of governance, such as the foreign affairs or economics.
„We have not discussed sharing of positions, but only subjects which might stay at the basis of the negotiations. We spoke about the PSRM-ACUM agreement; it is substantive and shows practically all the current needs of Moldova. If the agreement is signed, it will contain all provisions signed by the ACUM Bloc and so we see no problem if ACUM backs the agreement,” a PSRM MP, Vlad Batrincea, said.
Democrat lawmaker Dumitru Diacov said that the formation he is a member of had come to negotiations with a project for a European Moldova, which means a political commitment of PDM. Diacov stressed that the way the Democrats got involved in the coalition would be discussed based on this project. “We can assume responsibilities for the carrying out of this project for Moldova,” Diacov noted.
On 4 March, PSRM informed that it had ruled to initiate talks with PDM for the creation of a governance coalition. The Democrats soon accepted the invitation, stressing that they would put certain conditions. The head of state welcomed the decision to start negotiations for the creation of a parliamentary majority.
