Post-harvest investments must be multiplied - Agriculture Minister says

Chisinau, 6 March /MOLDPRES/- Post-harvest investments should be multiplied, and by subsidizing we intend to increase the number of refrigerator networks built, in order for producers to be able to store their production and subsequently market it. Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ion Perju made the statement after visiting a cold store in Sangrei agro-industrial park on Thursday.

"The business was initiated within a project with foreign investments and with the support of the state through subsidies. At present, it benefits from storage, washing and sorting services of fruit and vegetables for the agricultural producers from several districts - Sanguerei, Briceni, Glodeni, Leova and so on ”, Ion Perju said.

The minister noted that these businesses should be supported, representing an opportunity for local producers to expand their market.

Currently, in our country there are over six hundred cold storage rooms for storing fruits and vegetables, with a total storage capacity of over 400 thousand tons. More than half of them have been built and put into operation in recent years, including the financial support of the state, through the Fund for subsidizing farmers.
