Chisinau, 6 March /MOLDPRES/ - The head of the Central Electoral Commission, (CEC) Dorin Cimil, told a today’s news conference that he had submitted an application to the Chisinau Court of Appeal on the cancellation of registration of the candidate for MP seat in the uninominal electoral district No 38 on behalf of Shor Political Party, Vitalie Balinschi.
The CEC head said that the institution’s decision had been taken following a notification sent by the leader of the Liberal Party (PL), candidate on behalf of the Union Bloc at the new polls from Hancesti Dorin Chirtoaca.
”The reason which stayed at the basis of this action was the non-observance of the electoral legislation by the concerned electoral contender and namely the use by him of undeclared financial and material funds,” Cimil noted.
The official also said that, before asking the court to cancel the registration of the Shor Party’s candidate, he had consulted the video evidence and the official reports on ascertaining the deeds, through which more voters from the Hancesti electoral district were heard. The electors confirmed that they had benefited from free of charge transport services, excursions, food products, organized by the electoral contender of the Shor Party.
The Court of Appeal is to consider the application submitted by CEC during five days.
On 15 March 2020, new parliamentary polls will be held in the uninominal electoral district No 38, Hancesti municipality. They will take place, after Alexandru Botnari gave up his lawmaker mandate, in order to return to the office of Hancesti mayor. Seven electoral competitors participate in the ballot.
