Moldovan PM attends meeting of veterans

Chisinau, 7 March /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu today attended a meeting of the National Council for Veterans Affairs. The meeting, chaired by Eduard Maica, the head of the Veterans Union, was attended by representatives of 11 veterans organizations, over 150 people from all districts of the country, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The meeting was focused on issues faced by veterans, including access to medical services, balneotherapeutic treatment, health insurance of unemployed veterans etc. Also, it was discussed efficiency of Veterans Affairs Council under the Prime Minister and opportunity to create a structure within the government on veterans issues. They condemned the behavior of the participants in the 2 March actions.
The prime minister spoke about the measures taken by the government to support veterans. A draft law on free health insurance for unemployed veterans has been approved.The amount of allowances for veterans' widows was doubled and the allocations for medical services increased.
"We are solving problems whenever possible. Budget revenues in January-February 2020 are up by 1.2 billion than in the same period of 2019. In particular, Customs revenues increased - up by 25% than in 2019. This money will allow us to solve many social problems, including veterans.We have earmarked additional 174 million lei for increase of benefits.In the first stage, the payments will increase from 100 to 300 lei. By late 2020 we will reach 500 lei ", he said.
