Orange code for spread of COVID-19 infection set up in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 March /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu convened this morning a meeting of the National Commission of Public Health, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
At the beginning of the meeting, Chicu sent a congratulatory message to the ladies on Women's Day and thanked them for everything they do for their families and for the country.
The prime minister spoke about the first case of COVID-19 infection found in Moldova to a person coming to Chisinau with an airline from Milan, Italy. Preventive measures were discussed, including the opportunity to extend the pupils vacation in order to prevent infection and spread infection and the need to increase caution in mass events.
Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu spoke about the confirmed case of infection with coronavirus and about the actions taken by the relevant ministry.
Dumbrăveanu informed about the measures taken to identify and isolate the people who were in contact with the infected person.
All medical institutions are equipped with equipment and medicines for care.The teams of doctors have been trained with the support of the WHO regarding the treatment of cases of infection with the new type virus. Standardized epidemiological records have been set up, which are completed at the entrance of the country, by the citizens coming from the states where there are cases of infection with new type viruses.
Dumbrăveanu called on the media sources to support the communication efforts regarding the measures necessary to be respected in the current circumstances.
Minister of Internal Affairs Pavel Voicu informed about the measures taken by the MAI institutions jointly with MSMPS and noted that the Border Police, together with the General Police Inspectorate, are prepared to deal with the situation.
The director of the National Agency for Public Health, Nicolae Furtuna, spoke about the cooperation between authorities and citizens returning to the country and their responsibility to enter the exact data when completing the standardized epidemiological records.The actions taken by the authorities come to allow the early identification of cases of infection and prevent the spread of the virus.The official urged to stop mass events and to notify doctors as soon as they notice symptoms of respiratory illness.
Chicu asked the WHO representative to present opinion on the measures taken and the initiatives addressed.
Igor Pokanevych highly appreciated the organizational level of monitoring the evolution of processes and the level of involvement of the Executive team.The WHO recommendations do not include restriction of transport routes, considering that these measures are not effective.The WHO representative urged that measures such as the extension of the holiday should not be applied and suggested that the crisis cell should continue to monitor developments and that only rationally argued measures should be taken.He confirmed the important role of media sources in communication on the management of the situation and called for calm and responsible approach.
The Commission adopted a decision determining the High Risk for the population of the Republic of Moldova on spread of COVID-19 infection and found the degree of alert Orange Code at national level. The Commission urges citizens to follow personal protection recommendations and to inform physicians in the event of symptoms of respiratory illness.
The Prime Minister asked the authorities to continue to act maximum mobilized, to take the actions prescribed by the procedures and to inform people permanently and correctly. Ion Chicu called on the political forces not to take advantage of the epidemiological dangers and to support the efforts of the situation management authorities and urged the people entering the country to correctly complete the standardized epidemiological records, indicating the exact data, so that the responsible institutions can get in touch with them if needed.
