Moldovan electoral body announces preliminary results of local polls from north-western district settlement

Chisinau, 9 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today announced the preliminary results of the repeated elections for the runoff of the polls for the office of mayor of the Calinesti village, north-western Falesti district. According to the number of votes picked up, the candidate of the Democratic Party (PDM), Svetlana Padure, was elected mayor of Calinesti.
At the same time, CEC said that 9 March was the last day when decision-makers can publish findings of opinion polls on electoral subjects for the new parliamentary elections, due to be held in the uninominal district No 38, Hancesti municipality, on 15 March.
The Central Electoral Commission said that, on the election day, before the opening of the polling station, materials, interviews with voters, on the number of votes grabbed by the electors contenders during the day and about their chances, including the results of the exit-polls, are banned from being published in mass media.
New parliamentary elections will take place in the uninominal district No 38, Hancesti municipality, on 15 March. The ballot will be held after Alexandru Botnari has given up his MP mandate, in order to return to the office of Hancesti mayor. Seven electoral contenders take part in the elections.
