Moldovan, European officials broach human rights in Transnistrian region

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/- Constant violations of human rights in the Transnistrian region, including specific cases, as well as developments in the 5 + 2 format were the topic of talks between Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Alexandru Flenchea and Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Dunja Mijatović, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The deputy prime minister paid more attention to permanent violation of human rights by the Transnistrian side, including individual cases, such as those of Moldovan citizens Oleg Horjan and Alexandr Rjavitin, detained by the Transnistrian force structures and still in detention.
At the same time, Alexandru Flenchea said that the access of human rights defenders who carry out actions and activities in the localities on the left of the Dniester and Bender is restricted, moreover, the permanent violation of the right to free movement in the Security Zone occurs for other social groups.
In this context, Flenchea asked for addressing violations reported in the discussions that the Human Rights Commissioner is going to have in Tiraspol.
The deputy prime minister informed the high official about the latest developments in the 5 + 2 negotiation format, plans for this year, and noted Chisinau willingness to approach negotiations based on the result and estimating the opportunity to convene the 5 + 2 format depending on the results and actions by Tiraspol.
