Mass events in Moldova to be canceled

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/- Mărțișor festival, exhibitions, sports competitions and other events will be canceled. The decision was announced on Tuesday by Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu and was taken to prevent COVID-19.

The official noted that it was decided to ban all events, regardless of their type. She said that a dialogue with representatives of religions had already been initiated to strengthen prevention and prophylaxis measures of COVID-19 in churches. "We have initiated a dialogue with representatives of all religions and we want to coordinate with clergymen that they bring messages about the risks of infection and the need to prevent the spread of the infection. We will also discuss with them the precautionary measures they must take. We will also have a meeting, ”Dumbrăveanu said.

The minister also pointed out that today it was decided to fortify the border crossing points. There will be doctors who will examine people with fever entering the country and decide whether or not they are suspected of COVID-19. "We will elaborate some scenarios on closing educational institutions and come up with recommendations to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research to strengthen preventive measures in institutions", she said.

The official said that 10 suspected cases of COVID-19 are currently being examined in adults and two in children. Doctors have taken samples, and soon the results will be found.

Yesterday, the National Public Health Commission decided on a number of restrictive measures to prevent spread of infection, including stopping flights to and from Italy, banning airline operators from taking passengers traveling from Italy, Iran, China, South Korea to Moldova, obliging airline operators to inform passengers of the flights, who have embarked from Italy, Iran, China and South Korea, including those who have transited these states, to Moldova on the need to declare on their own responsibility the information in the epidemiological file and quarantined at home for a period of 14 days.
