Turnover between Moldova and Ukraine amounts to about one billion dollars

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today met Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Marko Shevchenko, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM congratulated the diplomat on the beginning of his mandate of ambassador and showed confidence that the relations between Moldova and Ukraine would have a positive evolution for the mutual benefit of both states.
The officials tackled a wide spectrum of subjects on the bilateral relations. Marko Shevchenko said that the turnover between Ukraine and Moldova was increasing, reaching almost one billion dollars.
The sides discussed the topic of organizing a meeting of the joint Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for economic and commercial cooperation, scheduled to be held in Kiev on 9-10 April.
The prime minister referred to the cancellation of the restrictions on the import of fowl from the Vinnytsia region of Ukraine, where a hotbed of bird flu outburst in late last January. A draft to this end will be approved at the next cabinet meeting.
The officials exchanged information on the measures undertaken by the two states’ governments, in order to prevent the spread of the epidemic of the COVID-19 virus. “The National Extraordinary Public Health Commission holds meetings almost daily. A crisis cell works at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, which provides every needed assistance in this field,” Ion Chicu said.
