United States to provide Moldova with assistance in context of Coronavirus, if needed

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today met Ambassador of the United States to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM discussed with the U.S. official the measures undertaken by the cabinet, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The sides tackled the level of preparation of the medical institutions from Moldova for the management of the epidemic with the new-type virus. “We do our utmost to cope with the situation. We every day meet within the Extraordinary Public health Commission and coordinate all decisions and actions with the World Health Organization,” Ion Chicu said.
Dereck J. Hogan informed about the United States Government’s willingness to provide Moldova with financial and technical assistance, if necessary.
The two officials approached a string of other subjects, such as the steps taken as to the justice reform, evolutions in the investigation of the bank fraud, preparations for the elections in Hancesti and the presidential polls, adoption of the law on ombudsman, as well as the strengthening and boosting of the economic cooperation between the USA and Moldova.
